Islamabad, June 23 (QNA) - HE Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif praised the State of Qatar's vital support in helping secure the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran, which paves the way for a comprehensive agreement between the two sides.

During talks held on Tuesday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is visiting Islamabad, Sharif also commended the efforts of several regional countries to support regional stability and peace.

The Pakistani prime minister affirmed that his country would continue to play a constructive role in promoting lasting peace. He noted that the first round of technical talks between the United States and Iran had been successfully held in Switzerland and expressed confidence that these efforts would contribute to strengthening stability in the region.

For his part, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, during a separate meeting with the Iranian president, reiterated Pakistan's opposition to unilateral measures and its support for dialogue and diplomacy as the best means of addressing regional and international challenges. He stressed Pakistan's commitment to preserving the unity of the Muslim world and strengthening its fraternal relations with the Arab Gulf states.

Meanwhile, the Iranian president praised Pakistan's responsible and constructive role in supporting dialogue, reducing tensions and promoting regional stability. He also commended Islamabad's efforts to encourage peaceful solutions to conflicts and foster understanding among different parties amid current geopolitical challenges. (QNA)
