Philadelphia, June 23 (QNA) - France qualified for the round of 32 of the FIFA 2026 World Cup after defeating Iraq 3-0 in the second round of Group I matches.

Kylian Mbappe scored twice for France, once in the 14th minute and another in the 54th. Ousmane Dembele completed the 3-0 victory with the third goal.

The match was interrupted for two hours before the start of the second half due to heavy rain at the stadium. It was the first postponement of a FIFA 2026 World Cup match caused by adverse weather conditions.

Mbappe increased his World Cup tally to 16 goals, moving to second place in the tournament's all-time scoring list beside Miroslav Klose, two goals behind the current leader, Lionel Messi.

With the result, France moved to the top of Group I with six points, securing qualification to the round of 32. Iraq remain fourth with zero points. (QNA)
