Los Angeles, June 22 (QNA) - Belgium drew 0-0 with Iran Sunday in the second match of Group Seven of the FIFA World Cup 2026, in a game held at Los Angeles Stadium in the United States.
Neither side managed to break the deadlock despite Belgium's intense attacking pressure in the first half and Iran's attempts in the second half.
آ Iranian goalkeeper Alireza delivered an outstanding performance, brilliantly repelling Belgium's shots and standing out as one of the best players of the match, while his counterpart Thibaut Courtois was no less impressive, producing a series of crucial saves against Iranian attempts in the early stages of the first half and the closing stages of the second.
Belgium were reduced to ten men after defender Nathan Ngoy received a red card in the 66th minute, forcing the team into a more defensive stance and giving Iran the opportunity to push forward, however, the match remained goalless until the final whistle.
With this result, Belgium raise their tally to two points, level with Iran, who remain top of the group on goal difference after scoring twice against New Zealand, while Belgium scored once against Egypt and conceded once in their opening match.
No team have managed to secure a victory in this group after three matches played so far, ahead of Egypt's upcoming clash with New Zealand later. (QNA)
