Qatar Opens 2026 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship Campaign Against Oman

Ahmedabad (India), June 20 (QNA) - Qatar's men's national volleyball team begins its 2026 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship campaign on Saturday, facing Oman in its opening Group B match.

The tournament began Friday in Ahmedabad, India, and will continue through June 29.

Qatar enters the competition after a period of intensive preparation that included training sessions in Doha under Argentine coach Camilo Soto, followed by a short camp in India featuring several friendly matches designed to improve the team's technical and physical readiness.

The draw placed Qatar in Group B alongside South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and Oman. Group A consists of hosts India, Australia, Bahrain, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan and New Zealand.

Qatar will face Thailand on Sunday, followed by matches against Indonesia on Monday and Bahrain on June 25. The team will conclude its group-stage schedule against South Korea on June 26.

The squad includes Mubarak Dahi, Mubarak Moussa, Youssef Ghalaf, Youssef Al Yafei, Renan, Ilya, Nicola, Bilal Abunbot, Babi, Abdullah Naseem, Milos, Mehdi Samoud, Naji Mahmoud and Ghanem Al Rumaihi. (QNA)
