Prague, June 20 (QNA) - Japan's Ai Ogura secured pole position for the Czech Grand Prix, the ninth round of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship, which began yesterday and concludes on Sunday at the Brno circuit.
This is Ogura's first career victory, achieved after he broke the Brno circuit lap record during qualifying, setting the fastest time of 1:51.139. He finished ahead of Italy's Fabio Di Giannantonio, who came in second, 0.211 seconds behind. Another Italian, Francesco Bagnaia, qualified third, 0.244 seconds off the pace, while their compatriot Marco Bezzecchi took fourth place, 0.289 seconds behind. Spain's Marc Marquez (the reigning champion at the Brno circuit) qualified fifth, 0.297 seconds behind the leader.
It was not only the Japanese rider's first pole position, but his first front-row start of any description, making him one of the top contenders for the title tomorrow. (QNA)
