Cairo, June 20 (QNA) - The Arab League welcomed the signing of the "Document of principles: Roadmap for ending transitional phase" by the leaders of the three main Libyan political bodies: the house of representatives, the presidential council, and the high council of state.
In a statement today, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit praised the national spirit and historical responsibility demonstrated by the signatories, emphasizing that their joint decision to overcome institutional differences reflects a genuine desire to prioritize the higher interest of the Libyan state and to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity, security, and financial stability above all other considerations.
Aboul Gheit considered the tripartite roadmap a significant breakthrough towards ending the prolonged political division in Libya, noting that the agreement builds upon the positive momentum achieved this year through the consensus on unifying the national budget and the adoption of the National Reconciliation Charter.
The Arab League affirmed its full solidarity with the Libyan state and its unwavering support for its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, adding that the Arab League Council had stressed in its successive resolutions that the solution in Libya must be purely Libyan, away from foreign interference.
