Los Angeles, June 18 - Switzerland secured an emphatic 4-1 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in their Group B second-round match at Los Angeles Stadium on Wednesday, as part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup being hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Johann Manzambi starred for Switzerland with a brace, scoring in the 74th and 90th minutes. Robin Vargas added a third goal in the 84th minute, while Granit Xhaka converted a penalty deep into stoppage time in the 90+7th minute. Bosnia and Herzegovina's lone goal came through Ermin Mahmic in the 90+3rd minute.
Bosnia and Herzegovina were reduced to ten men in the 80th minute after Tarik Muharemovic was shown a straight red card.
The victory lifts Switzerland to four points at the top of Group B, placing them in a strong position to qualify for the Round of 32 ahead of their final group-stage encounter against Canada. Bosnia and Herzegovina remain on one point, level with both Qatar and Canada, who are scheduled to face each other later in the day.
Switzerland opened their World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Qatar, while Bosnia and Herzegovina also began the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Canada. (QNA)
