Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra to Conclude Season with Concert Friday
Doha, June 18 (QNA) - The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, will conclude its artistic season on Friday with a concert titled "Pictures at an Exhibition" at the Opera House in the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara).
The concert features Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition," one of the most prominent works in the symphonic repertoire, known for its narrative power and rich orchestration.
The program, conducted by Iranian maestro Housain Bishkar, blends German classical masterpieces with orchestral works, opening with Carl Maria von Weber's "Der Freischutz" overture, a key piece in the German Romantic tradition.
The evening also includes Weber's Clarinet Concerto No. 2, performed by Austrian clarinetist Roni Moser, highlighting both technical skill and expressive depth.
The second half is dedicated to Mussorgsky's suite "Pictures at an Exhibition," orchestrated by Maurice Ravel and inspired by the works of Russian artist Viktor Hartmann, transforming visual art into vivid musical imagery.
Maestro Housain Bishkar is recognized internationally for his work with leading orchestras including the Beethoven Orchester Bonn, the Belgrade Philharmonic, and the Royal Danish Orchestra.
He was awarded the German Conducting Prize in 2017 and trained under renowned conductors such as Riccardo Muti and Bernard Haitink.
Clarinetist Roni Moser, a founding member of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra since 2008 and its principal clarinetist, studied at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.
He has performed with major orchestras including the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and has been teaching clarinet at the Qatar Music Academy since 2011. (QNA)
