NCCCR Achieves Digital Transformation in Day Care Oncology Services
Doha, June 18 (QNA) - The National Center for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR) has achieved a qualitative leap in its day care oncology services by shifting from manual operations to a smart, patient-centered model of care aimed at improving efficiency, safety, and the overall patient experience through digital innovation.
According to a bulletin issued by the center, rising demand for life-saving oncology and hematology services in the day care unit has made streamlined, efficient, and safer workflows more necessary than ever.
Previously, care coordination, appointment scheduling, and patient follow-up relied heavily on phone calls and spreadsheets, which created operational challenges, limited visibility, and increased administrative burden, as well as difficulties in tracking physician orders and managing appointments.
To address these issues, the center implemented a unified electronic system for intravenous medication requests in day care services under an initiative overseen by Director of the Center for Clinical Precision Medicine and Genomics Dr. Salha Bujassoum.
The system integrates oncology and hematology services, marking a shift from fragmented manual processes to a fully digital clinical workflow.
Physicians can now enter electronic requests directly, ensuring accurate real-time recording of patient data, service type, and scheduling information.
The system improves patient flow tracking, enhances multidisciplinary coordination, and ensures timely, organized care aligned with clinical priorities.
One of the key benefits of this transformation is improved patient safety, as standardized electronic requests reduce the risk of errors, strengthen treatment consistency, and enhance communication among healthcare providers.
Real-time tracking also enables faster responses to changing clinical needs.
In addition, eliminating manual scheduling has reduced administrative workload, allowing healthcare teams to focus more on direct patient care.
The system also provides valuable performance data to support service planning and continuous improvement.
The initiative reflects the National Center for Cancer Care and Research's broader commitment to innovation and excellence in oncology care, strengthening both internal workflows and the overall patient experience by ensuring safe, high-quality, and timely treatment. (QNA)
