UN: 135 Health Workers Killed in Lebanon Since Start of Israeli Offensive
New York, June 13 (QNA) - The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that 17 hospitals in Lebanon, including the three in Tyre. were damaged during the Israeli offensive.
The UN News Centre stated in a report that 135 healthcare workers and paramedics were killed, and approximately 400 others were injured.
The UN called for the protection of hospitals and medical personnel at all times, in accordance with international law.
For its part, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that humanitarian partners continue to support affected families throughout Lebanon, noting that since the start of the escalation, more than 182,000 people have received essential relief items.
OCHA stated that it remains deeply concerned about the ongoing impact of the hostilities on healthcare and people's access to basic services.
OCHA reported that an attack near Hiram Hospital in Tyre District, South Governorate, injured ten of its staff and damaged hospital buildings and vehicles, noting that this incident is at least the fifth to affect Hiram Hospital since the escalation began on March 2. (QNA)
