Nigeria Says Over 13,000 Militants Killed in Past Year
Abuja, June 12 (QNA) - Nigerian President Bola Tinubu announced that more than 13,000 militants were killed over the past year.
In a statement, Tinubu said fatalities had declined by 81 percent since May 2023 when he assumed office, though he did not specify whether the figure covered all of 2025 or the previous 12 months.
He added that more than 124,000 fighters and their family members have surrendered since 2023 through the government's Safe Corridor rehabilitation program.
Northern Nigeria continues to face dual security threats from armed militant groups and criminal gangs, which frequently carry out attacks on villages and mass kidnappings for ransom. (QNA)
