Minister of State for International Cooperation Participates in Session on Promoting Discourse on Peace, Democracy, and Reform at Paris International Civil Society Conference on Two-State Solution
Paris, June 12 (QNA) - HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad on Friday participated in a session on promoting discourse on peace, democracy, and reform at the Paris International Conference of Civil Society Organizations on the Two-State Solution, held in the French capital, Paris.
During the session, Her Excellency presented a comprehensive vision on the foundations of lasting peace, emphasizing that peace is not achieved through signed agreements alone, but rather is built upon culture and instilled by future generations. She noted that any agreement lacking a discourse that acknowledges the humanity of others remains merely ink on paper.
Her Excellency explained that Qatar believes promoting a discourse of peace begins with rejecting the language of incitement and dehumanization, regardless of its source, and investing in education, development, and youth, who will carry the new narrative envisioned by the Paris Declaration. She stated that peace has indispensable social and economic foundations, as there can be no true stability in societies deprived of dignity, livelihoods, and hope. She emphasized that humanitarian and development efforts are not peripheral to politics but are at the very heart of building peace itself.
Her Excellency stressed the pivotal role of civil society as a key partner in preserving the social fabric torn apart by conflict, warning that talk of civil society partnership in peace is meaningless while human rights organizations are targeted, criminalized, and defunded.
Regarding the Palestinian reform process, Her Excellency the Minister of State for International Cooperation affirmed that it is a purely Palestinian matter, based on national unity and legitimacy emanating from the will of the people through free elections. She stressed that it should be supported and empowered by partners, not imposed from the outside or used as a pretext for postponing the realization of rights.
Her Excellency indicated that Qatar will continue to invest in the social, developmental and institutional foundations of peace, and will remain supportive of every voice that chooses a just peace based on two states, with East Jeru salem as the capital of the independent State of Palestine. (QNA)
