Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar Celebrates Class of 2026 Graduation

Doha, May 09 (QNA) - Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, a partner university of Qatar Foundation, celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2026, marking the academic achievement of 106 graduates across Biological Sciences, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, and General Studies.
Michael Trick, dean of CMU-Q, opened the ceremony with a message highlighting the resilience, determination, and perseverance shown by the Class of 2026 throughout their academic journey. He noted that the graduates had navigated significant global disruptions during their years at the university, yet succeeded in maintaining focus and purpose amid challenging circumstances, stressing that their accomplishments were a source of pride for the entire CMU-Q faculty.
Addressing the graduates on behalf of the global Carnegie Mellon community, CMU President Farnam Jahanian commended the Class of 2026 for the resilience and determination they demonstrated throughout periods of uncertainty and geopolitical instability. He noted that despite the challenges and disruptions they faced, the graduates remained committed to their studies and supported one another with courage and empathy, adding that their perseverance reflected the values and leadership potential that would define their future paths
Speaking on behalf of the Class of 2026, Noora Al Kuwari and Zeina Mahmoud reflected on the graduates' four-year journey and expressed appreciation for the unwavering support of the university and its academic community, which enabled them to overcome challenges and turn them into opportunities for growth and personal development.
The ceremony also paid tribute to faculty and students for outstanding achievements. Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards were presented to Zhansaya Matkenova (Biological Sciences), Omar Hatem Ali Khalaf (Business Administration), Zeina Rami Halawa (Computer Science), and Fatou Sokhna Gueye (Information Systems) for achieving the highest academic standing in their respective programs.
The four Qatar Campus Scholars for the Class of 2026 were recognized for their academic excellence and leadership: Gana Elnajjar, Phat Hung Diep, Zeina Rami Halawa, and Fatou Sokhna Gueye. Zeina Rami Halawa and Fatou Sokhna Gueye were named Andrew Carnegie Society Scholars. Dr. Varun Sharma, associate teaching professor of marketing, received the Meritorious Teaching Award.
With the graduation of the Class of 2026, CMU-Q's alumni community is now more than 1,500 strong, a network of young professionals driving knowledge and innovation across Qatar and around the world. (QNA)
