Doha, May 09 (QNA) - Al Gharafa SC were crowned champions of the 2026 Amir Cup after defeating Al Sadd SC 4-1 in the final at Khalifa International Stadium on Saturday.
Tunisian midfielder Ferjani Sassi opened the scoring for Al Gharafa in the 21st minute before Algerian forward Yacine Brahimi struck a hat-trick with goals in the 27th, 63rd and stoppage-time minutes.
Dutch forward Javairo Dilrosun scored Al Sadd's only goal in the 88th minute.
The victory secured Al Gharafa's ninth Amir Cup title and their first triumph in the competition in more than a decade, while also earning the club a place in the 2026–27 AFC Champions League Elite competition.
Al Sadd started strongly and came close through Rafa Mujica early in the match, but Al Gharafa capitalized on defensive gaps with rapid counter-attacks orchestrated by coach Pedro Martins.
Despite sustained pressure from Al Sadd in the second half, Al Gharafa remained clinical in attack, with Brahimi sealing the emphatic victory deep into added time. (QNA)
