UAE Condemns Targeting of ADNOC Tanker in Strait of Hormuz
Abu Dhabi, May 04 (QNA) - The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned an Iranian attack on a national tanker operated by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), which was targeted by two drones while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. No injuries were reported in the incident.
In a statement issued on Monday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attack constitutes a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which underscores freedom of navigation and rejects the targeting of commercial vessels or the disruption of international maritime routes.
The Ministry stressed that targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for economic pressure or blackmail amounts to piracy by Iran's Revolutionary Guard and poses a direct threat to regional stability and global energy security.
The UAE called on Iran to cease such attacks, fully comply with the cessation of hostile acts, and ensure the complete and unconditional reopening of the Strait, in a manner that supports regional security and the stability of global trade and the global economy. (QNA)
