QM Unveils May 2026 Programmes Across Art, Heritage, Design and Community Spaces
Doha, May 03 (QNA) - Qatar Museums (QM) announced its May 2026 programme of public activities, featuring a curated selection of workshops, talks, and family-focused sessions across its museums and creative spaces.
Offering a series of programmes focused on calligraphy, creativity and environmental awareness, the Museum of Islamic Art will host:
Calligraphy workshops: Nasta'liq Intermediate for Children and Youth, (May 2, 9, 16 and 23), in addition to Ruq'ah Intermediate for Women, (from May 3 to 6).
- Planet Kids Club: Space, (May 19), a monthly programme combining storytelling and craft activities, encouraging children to learn about sustainability and creative reuse.
For its part, the National Museum of Qatar will continue to highlight the nation's heritage through programmes that connect audiences with traditional crafts, history and archaeology. These include:
- Al Naqda Embroidery for Women, (from May 3 to 5), a hands-on course introducing participants to the cultural importance of Naqdah embroidery. The sessions focus on traditional techniques using silver threads and authentic methods, supporting the preservation of this heritage craft.
- Architecture in the Old Palace Forum, (May 10), held as part of the museum's 50th anniversary, this forum convenes experts to discuss the architectural and historical significance of the Old Palace.
Meanwhile, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art's May programme supports artistic development through practical sessions and discussions inspired by modern Arab art. These include:
- Art Lessons with Ismail Azzam, (Every Sunday and Tuesday), weekly sessions on portrait techniques using a range of materials, encouraging skill-building and creative exchange.
- Archiving Folds, (May 3, 6, 9 and 10), a structured course combining gallery-based learning with hands-on sculptural work, encouraging participants to translate ideas into material form.
- She Curates: Panel Discussion during International Museum Week, (May 21),
Teens aged 13 to 18 can join a creative course at Mathaf that teaches upcycling, customization, and self-expression through the art of fashion.
As for M7, its May programme focuses on fashion, design and creative practice, creating opportunities for both emerging and established designers.
- Designers Weekend: Renaissance Renaissance and Late for Work, (May 8 and 9), a programme featuring discussions, mentorship and collaborative sessions with leading designers.
- Crafting and Communicating Fashion Narratives Masterclass, (from May 10 to 13), a four-day course focused on developing strong brand narratives and communication strategies within contemporary fashion.
- Shape Your Style: A Body Morphology Workshop, (May 19), an interactive session helping participants understand body shape and refine personal styling approaches.
Liwan Design Studios and Labs presents four creative workshops spanning ceramics, digital fabrication, pottery, and experimental printing. These are: Design Your Own Eid Set for Gifting (May 12); Intro to Digital Fabrication: Design and Make Your Own Table Lamp (from May 17 to 21); Poetical/Friendship Quotes on a Mug and Plate Set (May 20); and Seasoning Prints - A Multitone Anthotype Workshop (May 27 and 28).
Qatar Museums' Archaeology Department public sessions will be presenting recent archaeological achievements and upcoming projects at the National Museum of Qatar.
In turn, 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum (3-2-1) continues to provide engaging activities for families and children, linking creativity with sport and storytelling through: Golden Medal Design Workshop, (May 15); in addition to Storytelling Programme in English (May 29) and Arabic (May 31).
