EU Summons Russia's Charge d'Affaires Following Russian Threats of Targeting Kyiv
Brussels, May 26 (QNA) - The European Union (EU) summoned Russia's charge d'affaires to the bloc after Russia had announced its intention to carry out systematic strikes against targets in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, and had called on foreign nationals and diplomats to leave the city.
In a post on X, Lead Spokesperson for EU Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Anitta Hipper said on Tuesday that Russia's warning to foreign citizens and diplomats to leave Kyiv constitutes an unacceptable escalation.
The EU calls on Moscow to stop targeting civilians, Hipper said, affirming that the EU delegation will continue its work in the Ukrainian capital.
On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry had requested that foreign nationals, including diplomatic mission staff, leave Kyiv as quickly as possible, urging city residents to avoid approaching military and administrative facilities. (QNA)
