Cairo, May 19 (QNA) - The Arab League General Secretariat said Tuesday that it had delivered the first batch of humanitarian and medical aid to Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health amid the country's ongoing humanitarian challenges.

In a statement, the Arab League said the first shipment comprised 436 of a total 609 aid packages weighing seven tonnes, adding that the remaining assistance is due to arrive in Lebanon over the coming days.

The aid is being delivered under a decision adopted at an emergency meeting of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Health Ministers on March 18 to provide urgent medicines, medical supplies and essential materials to support the Lebanese people.

The statement reaffirmed the Council's commitment to continuing health and humanitarian support for member states facing crises and humanitarian emergencies, in a manner that enhances their capacity to address various challenges. (QNA)
