Doha, May 17 (QNA) - A seminar titled "Law in the Realm of Culture and Books" at the Doha International Book Fair on Sunday emphasized that spreading legal awareness is a societal necessity to protect rights and strengthen public understanding.

Speakers warned that ignorance of legal procedures and deadlines can lead to the loss of rights, particularly in cases challenging administrative decisions.

Dr. Hassan Abdulrahim Al Buhashim Al Sayed, a legal author, told the fair's cultural salon that law should not remain confined to rigid texts but must be simplified and presented to society through books, lectures, and awareness initiatives.

He stressed that promoting legal literacy is a key responsibility of legal professionals and academic institutions alongside their educational and research roles.

Al Sayed highlighted that legal culture enables individuals to understand their rights and how to protect them, noting that ignorance of deadlines, such as the 60 days for challenging administrative decisions, starting from the date of issuance or awareness, can result in forfeited rights.

He also discussed the reciprocal relationship between law and culture, pointing out that societal norms influence legal development, while legal professionals play a central role in raising public awareness. He emphasized that effective legal communication depends on its relevance to everyday life and the clarity of its presentation.

He noted the growing engagement of Qatari society with legal issues and rights culture through lectures and awareness initiatives, reflecting an increasing recognition of the importance of legal knowledge in daily life.

He further underscored the value of legal authorship in simplifying laws and regulations for readers and researchers, noting that advances in academic studies and translations have enriched the legal library and broadened opportunities for research and writing. (QNA)
