Doha, May 12 (QNA) - HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met on Tuesday with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Republic of Turkiye Hakan Fidan, who is currently visiting the country.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral cooperation relations and ways to further enhance and advance them.
They also discussed the latest regional developments, particularly those related to the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, as well as ongoing communications aimed at easing tensions and reinforcing regional security and stability. In this context, both sides reaffirmed the importance of safeguarding freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Discussions further covered the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories and Lebanon.
The two sides underscored the support of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkiye for the mediation efforts undertaken by Pakistan and expressed hope that these efforts would help bring the crisis to an end.
They also reiterated their rejection of any unilateral measures that could undermine the security of the Strait of Hormuz or threaten the stability of international navigation.
Both sides further affirmed their condemnation of any targeting of commercial vessels or threats to maritime security in the region, describing such acts as a clear violation of international law and a threat to the stability of international trade and vital supply chains.
The two sides agreed that the next phase requires enhanced coordination and consultation, as well as building on the strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries in support of regional security and stability. (QNA)
