Beirut, April 09 (QNA) - Lebanon announced on Thursday that it filed a new complaint against Israeli entity with UN Security Council.

In a statement, the Lebanese government said the Cabinet decided to submit an urgent complaint over the escalating Israeli attacks on Lebanon, which expanded on Wednesday, particularly in the capital, Beirut, resulting in a significant number of civilian casualties.

It added that the escalation runs counter to international and regional efforts to end conflict in the region and constitutes a clear violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

For his part, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called for increased pressure to ensure that Lebanon is included in any ceasefire agreement in the region as a step toward launching negotiations. He stressed that Lebanon has the capacity and capability to negotiate and will not accept negotiations conducted on its behalf. (QNA)
