Egyptian Foreign Minister Discusses Escalation in Lebanon with French Counterpart, US Official
Cairo, April 9 (QNA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelaaty discussed regional developments and the coordination of international efforts to de-escalate tensions in two separate phone calls Thursday with his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot, and US Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated in a press release that the Egyptian and French foreign ministers emphasized the paramount importance of halting Israeli attacks on Lebanon and achieving calm during this critical juncture for the Middle East.
They also stressed the importance of concerted international efforts to support Lebanese national institutions, thereby contributing to ending the humanitarian suffering and achieving security and stability for Lebanon.
In a related context, Abdelaaty, during his call with Witkoff, emphasized the necessity of swift intervention to de-escalate the situation in the region and solidify the ceasefire.
He stressed that the Israeli aggression against Lebanon undermines all regional and international efforts to achieve the desired calm in the region.(QNA)
