MOEHE Student Assessment Director to QNA: Flexible Assessment Alternatives were Designed, Considering Educational Stages Differences
Doha, April 08 (QNA) - Director of the Student Assessment Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) Ibrahim Abdullah Rashid Al Muhannadi emphasized that activating alternative assessment procedures for the mid-term exams of the second semester of the academic year 2025-2026 comes within the framework of the MOEHE's continuous concern for the interest of students, through providing flexible assessment alternatives that ensure the continuity of the educational process.
Al Muhannadi told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that this decision came in light of the continuous monitoring of the current situation, and in a way that achieves the public interest and ensures the stability of the educational process in a safe and stable educational environment for students. He stressed the MOEHE's keenness to design flexible assessment alternatives that take into account the differences between educational stages, in order to achieve fairness and reliability in measuring learning outcomes, and to ensure that the assessment does not constitute any additional burden on students from grades one to eleven, especially in light of the current situation.
He pointed out that adopting continuous assessment for first and second grade students as an alternative to mid-term exams for the second semester reflects an educational approach that focuses on developing students' skills cumulatively, while electronic assessments for students from the third grade to the eleventh grade allow for an accurate measurement of the level of academic achievement using modern and diverse tools, which serves the interests of students and enhances the efficiency and stability of the educational process in various schools in the country.
He added that assigning electronic applications through approved electronic educational systems contributes to enhancing the efficiency of assessment and speed of its completion. He stressed the readiness of schools and teachers to implement these procedures according to the highest standards, by providing clear instructions to students, and ensuring the accuracy of correction and recording of grades in the National Student Information System (NSIS), which contributes to achieving the best desired educational results, and overcoming the challenges that students went through during the past period, whether in in-person education or remote learning.
Concluding his remarks to QNA, Al Muhannadi stressed the significance of integration between schools and parents at this stage, ensuring clarity in the assessment mechanism for students and motivating them to commit to completing the requirements of electronic applications within the specified deadlines. This contributes to maintaining the stability of the educational path and the quality of its outcomes, and achieving the highest standards of quality and fairness in educational measurement, thus serving the educational process and enhancing the interests of students.
