Riyadh, April 08 (QNA) - Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi met on Wednesday with High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.

Regional and international developments were discussed during the meeting, as well as the repercussions of the "treacherous" Iranian attacks on GCC countries and the threat they pose to the security and stability of the region, the safety of international navigation and global energy supplies.

Kallas expressed the EU's supportive stance towards the GCC countries and its clear condemnation of these aggressive acts, affirming the Union's support for the GCC countries in confronting these attacks and its commitment to strengthening joint coordination to maintain regional and international security and stability.

In turn, Albudaiwi stressed the importance of continuing effective international coordination to address the escalating challenges in the region.

GCC–EU relations and ways to develop them further were also addressed during the meeting, along with following up on the latest updates on the 1st EU-GCC Summit's outcomes.

Albudaiwi and Kallas went over the priorities of the Joint Action Programme (2022–2027) in addition to a number of proposals that would strengthen GCC–EU coordination. (QNA)
