Islamabad, April 29 (QNA) - Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif affirmed on Wednesday that his country is continuing its efforts for peace in the region.

The Premier pointed to proactive diplomacy's role in easing tensions and promoting regional stability and peace.

The direct talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad on April 11, were a significant diplomatic breakthrough, said Sharif during a cabinet meeting he chaired.

Pakistan made coordinated efforts to ensure the success of the negotiations, he added, noting that the ceasefire between the US and Iran has remained in place and has been extended as a result.

The Pakistani Prime Minister highlighted that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has recently visited Pakistan and held talks with senior Pakistani officials to end the war. (QNA)
