US National Security Team Convenes in White House to Consider Iranian Proposal
Washington, April 27 (QNA) - The US President's national security team met Monday to discuss an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to international navigation.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the US President will later reveal details of the proposal and the decisions reached thereon during the meeting.
The proposal is still under discussion, she added, with talk of it involving reopening the strait in exchange for the United States lifting its blockade on Iranian ports.
For his part, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed Washington's rejection of what media reports described as an Iranian offer to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
In a television interview, Rubio said that Iran's view of the vital waterway differs from that of the rest of the world, stressing that it is unacceptable to normalize the idea of requiring Iran's permission for passage through an international maritime corridor. (QNA)
