Jakarta, April 28 (QNA) - Two trains collided at Bekasi Timur station in Indonesia, killing 14 people and injuring 84 others, the Indonesian state railway company KAI reported.

The company reported that the accident occurred Monday night and involved the Cikarang commuter train and the Argo Bromo Anggrek long-distance train, noting that the death toll has risen to 14, while the injured are receiving treatment in a number of hospitals.

The company also confirmed that rescue operations were continuing, amid coordination between the rescue teams of the National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS) and ambulance teams. However, evacuation operations faced difficulties as a result of damage to the train carriages.

Indonesia occasionally experiences collisions or derailments, often due to human error, technical malfunctions, or problems with signaling systems. (QNA)
