Southern Austria Wildfire Spread Across 110 Hectares Amid Intensive Firefighting Efforts
Vienna, April 25 (QNA) - Firefighters in southern Austria are continuing their fierce battle to control a large wildfire that broke out on Thursday. The flames have spread across an area equivalent to approximately 150 football fields, according to firefighting teams today.
The cause of the fire, which started near the village of Maria Lugau on the border with Italy, remains unknown.
The fire operations center in the neighboring town of Hermagor explained that winds and dry conditions have fueled the blaze, which has now spread across 110 hectares.
The center indicated that the fire does not currently pose an immediate threat to residents or property, but firefighting operations are facing significant challenges.
According to firefighters, helicopters have been deployed to combat the fire in the rugged, steep terrain. (QNA)
