France's Macron Calls for Broader Regional Role in Lebanon Peace Talks
Nicosia, April 23 (QNA) - French President Emmanuel Macron said negotiations on Lebanon should involve all regional actors linked to its security in order to achieve lasting peace.
Speaking alongside Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides ahead of an informal European summit in Nicosia, Macron said talks should take place between Lebanon and Israel, but with wider regional participation to ensure long-term stability.
He added that Lebanon is under significant pressure, with efforts ongoing to extend a ceasefire.
Macron also reiterated that France stands ready to host a conference to support the Lebanese army if requested by Beirut.
A new round of ambassador-level talks between Lebanon and Israel is being held in Washington, D.C. under US mediation, with Lebanon seeking a one-month extension to the truce. (QNA)
