German Defense Minister Reveals Military Strategy to Beef up Army Capabilities
Berlin, April 22 (QNA) - Germany's Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius has presented a strategy outlining the future direction of the German military amid an increasingly unstable world.
Speaking in Berlin on Wednesday, Pistorius unveiled a comprehensive vision for military defense, alongside a military reserve strategy, according to the German Press Agency (dpa).
Set as the primary threat by the strategy, Russia is rearming for a military confrontation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), as the country deems the use of military force a legitimate tool to impose its interests, said the German Defense Minister.
Pistorius added that Russia is also increasingly relying on hybrid means such as espionage, sabotage, cyberattacks, and disinformation campaigns, which are no longer marginal phenomena and must be confronted.
The aim is to make the German military the strongest conventional army in Europe, with the short-term goal of strengthening Germany's defense capabilities and resilience, the medium-term goal of increasing the military's capabilities significantly and comprehensively, and the long-term goal of achieving technological superiority, said the German Defense Minister.
