Brighton Beats Chelsea in Premier League Round 34 Opener

London, April 22 (QNA) - Brighton & Hove Albion defeated its guest Chelsea 3-0 on Tuesday in the opening match of the 34th round of the Premier League.

Brighton's goals were scored by Ferdi Kadioglu in the 3rd minute, Jack Hinshelwood in the 56th minute and Danny Welbeck in stoppage time (90+1).

With the result, Brighton moved up to sixth place with 50 points, strengthening its chances of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League next season (2026-27). Chelsea remained seventh with 48 points.

The round continues on Wednesday with two matches, as Manchester City faces Burnley and AFC Bournemouth plays Leeds United. One match is scheduled for Friday, with Sunderland taking on Nottingham Forest.

Five matches will be played on Saturday: Aston Villa vs. Fulham, West Ham United vs. Everton, Liverpool vs. Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur at Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Arsenal hosting Newcastle United.

The round concludes on Monday with Manchester United against Brentford.

Arsenal leads the standings with 70 points, three ahead of Manchester City, which has a game in hand. Manchester United is third with 58 points, level with Aston Villa in fourth on goal difference, followed by Liverpool in fifth with 55 points. (QNA)
