Riyadh, April 21 (QNA) - Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi has expressed his strong condemnation and denunciation, in the strongest terms the storming of Al Aqsa Mosque by dozens of settlers and their raising of the Israeli occupation flag in its courtyards.

He described this as a blatant and dangerous violation of the sanctity of this holy site and a flagrant provocation of the feelings of Muslims worldwide.

In a statement issued Wednesday, Al Budaiwi affirmed that these aggressive practices constitute a flagrant attack and a blatant violation of all international laws and conventions.

He added that they reflect systematic actions by the Israeli occupation forces to destabilize security and stability in the region.

He emphasized the GCC's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, considering it the primary central issue, and its full support for the Palestinian people in regaining their legitimate rights, foremost among them the establishment of their independent state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The GCC Secretary-General called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities, and to take immediate and decisive action to stop these serious violations, provide the necessary international protection for the Palestinian people and their holy sites, and hold the Israeli occupation forces accountable for these illegal practices that would undermine the chances of achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
