Two Matches Kick Off Quarterfinals of HH the Amir Cup Basketball Tournament
Doha, April 17 (QNA) - Two matches will be held tomorrow, Saturday, at Al Gharafa Sports Club's arena in the quarterfinals of HH the Amir Cup basketball tournament for men for the 2025-2026 season.
The tournament is considered one of the most prominent and competitive local championships, given its unique competitive nature that brings together elite clubs in a direct battle for a prestigious title to conclude the season.
In the first match, Al Ahli will face Al Wakrah at 6:00 PM. The match is expected to revolve around controlling the tempo in the middle of the court.
In the second match at 8 PM, Al Sadd face Al Shamal in a clash with a different style of play.
The quarter-finals continue on Sunday with two matches at Al Gharafa Sports Club.
The first match will see Al Gharafa take on Al Rayyan in one of the most anticipated matches of this round, given the strength of both teams and their long history of rivalry.
The second match will pit Al Arabi, the reigning league champions and Qatar Cup finalists along with Al Shamal, against the winner of the preliminary round match between Qatar SC and Al Khor.
The semi-finals of HH the Amir Cup will be held on Monday, May 4. The winner of the Al Ahli vs. Al Wakrah match will face the winner of the Al Arabi vs.
Qatar SC vs. Al Khor match, while the other semi-final will pit the winner of the Al Sadd vs. Al Shamal match against the winner of the Al Gharafa vs. Al Rayyan match. The final will be held on Wednesday, May 6.
This year's tournament is attracting significant attention from various clubs and fans due to the closely matched skill levels of the participating teams.
This fosters expectations of intense competition from the early rounds to the final, especially with the participation of clubs boasting a rich history in the sport and prominent names in Qatari basketball.
