Al Arabi Win Qatar Basketball Cup for Fifth Time

Doha, April 17 (QNA) - Al Arabi SC won the Qatar Basketball Cup for the fifth time in its history, defeating Al Shamal Club 77-71 in the final match held Thursday at the Al Gharafa Arena.

With this victory, Al Arabi raised their tally to five titles, setting a new record for the most championship wins, surpassing Al Gharafa's four titles.

Qatar SC, Al Sadd, Al Rayyan, and Al Wakrah are tied with one title each, reflecting the diverse landscape of competition throughout the tournament's history.

Following the match, officials included President of the Qatar Basketball Federation, Mohammed Saad Al Mughaisib; HE President of Al Arabi Club, Sheikh Tamim bin Fahd Al-Thani; Vice President of Al Shamal Club, Abdullah Shamsan Al Sada; and Secretary General of the Qatar Basketball Federation, Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari presented the trophy and gold medals to the winning team. Al Arabi also received a cash prize of QR 600,000, while Al Shamal were awarded silver medals and QR 400,000.

Al Arabi qualified for the final after a marathon match against Al Rayyan, decided in overtime with a score of 104-103, while Al Shamal qualified for the final after defeating Al Wakrah 71-56.
