Qatar's Environmental Conditions Stable with No Cause for Concern, Says Minister
Doha, April 15 (QNA) - HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie has said that the country's environmental conditions remain stable, with no indicators of concern, as authorities continue to rely on an advanced nationwide monitoring system.
His Excellency added in a televised interview on Qatar TV that the country operates an integrated environmental monitoring network using modern technologies to track air quality, water quality, and radiation levels in real time.
He explained that data is collected continuously from monitoring stations across the country and transmitted to a central operations room for analysis and decision-making.
The minister said Qatar operates 48 air-quality monitoring stations, in addition to 20 stations located along major roads, as well as dedicated systems for monitoring water quality. He added that all systems are equipped with modern technologies designed to ensure accuracy and continuity of data.
On radiation monitoring, His Excellency said the ministry operates an independent system covering both land and marine areas, supported by a comprehensive baseline survey to detect any abnormal changes immediately.
He added that an early warning and data analysis system allows authorities to assess potential incidents and run simulation models to forecast scenarios up to 48 hours in advance, in coordination with civil defense authorities.
The ministry also cooperates regionally and internationally, including with Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the International Atomic Energy Agency, to exchange radiation-related data and strengthen response capabilities.
Officials said environmental data is made publicly available through an online air quality platform that provides real-time indicators of conditions across the country.
The minister stressed that the monitoring system is continuously being upgraded through network expansion, technological improvements, and national capacity-building programs in cooperation with educational and government institutions.
He also urged the public to rely on official sources for information and warned against misinformation, saying the ministry remains committed to providing accurate and transparent environmental data through its official channels. (QNA)
