Arab League Backs Political Path to End Sudan War
Berlin, April 15 (QNA) - The Arab League reaffirmed its support for a Sudanese-led political process to end the war in Sudan on foundations that preserve the country's unity and sovereignty.
Speaking at the third international meeting on Sudan in Berlin, Assistant Secretary-General Hossam Zaki emphasized the need for continued coordination among regional and international actors working for peace, highlighting the role of the quintet mechanism comprising the Arab League, African Union, UN, EU, and IGAD in aligning peace initiatives and restoring stability.
He outlined key principles from consultations with Sudanese civilian forces, including Sudanese ownership of the political process, inclusive dialogue, stronger preparatory phases, avoidance of parallel tracks, a unified consultation framework, and integration of political efforts with ceasefire initiatives.
