Doha, April 15 (QNA) - Qatar's Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) has hosted a panel discussion on contemporary parenting challenges, as part of events marking Qatar Family Day 2026.

The event was organized in cooperation with the Doha International Family Institute, bringing together experts, specialists and families to explore the evolving demands on parents.

Participants discussed the growing pressures faced by parents amid rapid social and technological change, focusing on how to equip them with practical skills to translate parenting knowledge into sustainable daily practices.

The session highlighted the importance of preparing individuals for parenthood and fostering a deeper understanding of child-rearing approaches that support children's psychological and social development at different stages of life. Particular attention was given to digital challenges, changing family dynamics and the fast pace of modern life.

Executive Director of the Doha International Family Institute, Dr Sharifa Noaman Al Emadi, said investing in parenting skills is a key preventive approach to strengthening family cohesion.

"Empowering parents begins with providing them with practical knowledge and applicable skills," she said, adding that this enables families to build more balanced relationships and respond more effectively to social and psychological challenges.

The discussion also examined the role of specialized programs, schools and community institutions in supporting families, including efforts to prepare individuals for parenthood and promote flexible parenting approaches that enhance emotional security and communication.

Executive Director of Kanaf Parenting Center, Dr Maryam Al Malki, also took part, outlining the importance of equipping parents with practical tools and support pathways across different stages of parenting.

She presented the vision and programs of the Parenting Center, which was launched on April 14, describing it as a national platform dedicated to strengthening parenting capabilities and helping families address modern challenges.

Organizers said the event reflects ongoing efforts by the ministry and its partners to support families through community dialogue and targeted initiatives aimed at promoting stability and cohesion in Qatari society. (QNA)
