Doha, April 13 (QNA) - Al Sailiya claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Al Arabi in their rescheduled Week 17 match of 2025-2026 season Doha Bank Stars League at Al Thumama Stadium on Monday.

The win lifted Al Sailiya to 22 points, while Al Arabi stayed on 32 points.

Al Sailiya made a dream start as Anwar El Ghazi headed home the opener in the fifth minute from a superb corner by Younes Belhanda. Belhanda then doubled the lead with a precise right-footed strike into the bottom left corner, assisted by Hadi Ali Tabasideh's overlapping run.

Al Arabi had a penalty appeal overturned in the 55th minute after a lengthy VAR review for a challenge by Diogo Amaro on Pablo Sarabia.

Rodri Sanchez pulled one back for Al Arabi in the 81st minute with a powerful left-footed long-range strike from the rebound of a free-kick punched out by goalkeeper Fahad Younis.

Al Sailiya thought they had extended their advantage seven minutes later when Kellian van der Kaap fired in from 25 yards, but the goal was disallowed following a VAR check. (QNA)
