Doha, April 01 (QNA) - Al Sadd and Al Gharafa secured victories Wednesday evening against Al Shamal and Al Khor, respectively, in the first round of the qualifying stage for the quarterfinals of HH the Amir Volleyball Cup for the 2025-2026 season.

In the first match, Al Sadd defeated Al Shamal 3-0 in their Group B match, which also includes Al Ahli.

The three sets ended with scores of 25-19, 25-21, and 25-19 in favor of Al Sadd.

In the second match, Al Gharafa achieved a hard-fought victory over Al Khor, winning 3-1 in their Group A match, which also includes Qatar SC.

The three sets of the match ended with scores of (25-14, 25-16, 19-25, 29-27) in favor of Al Gharafa.

The qualifying stage is being held in two groups. The teams that finished in fifth through tenth place in this season's league competition were divided into two groups.

Group A includes Qatar SC, Al Khor, and Al Gharafa, while Group B includes Al Ahli, Al Shamal, and Al Sadd.

The qualifying stage is being played in a round-robin format within each group, with three rounds.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.

These four qualifying teams will then join the top four teams from the league championship: Al Arabi, Al Wakrah, Police, and Al Rayyan, thus completing the quarterfinal lineup.

The qualifiers are scheduled to continue with the second round this Friday, featuring matches between Qatar SC and Al Gharafa (Group A), and Al Ahli and Al Sadd (Group B).

The third and final round of the qualifiers will be held next Saturday, featuring matches between Al Ahli and Al Shamal (Group B), and Qatar SC and Al Khor (Group A).

In a related development, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) is scheduled to conduct the draw for the quarter-finals of HH the Amir Cup on April 6th to determine the quarter-final matchups. (QNA)
