Cairo, March 07 (QNA) - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed the updates in the regional developments in a phone call Saturday with his Cypriot counterpart, Nikos Christodoulides.

During the call, El-Sisi stressed the importance of containing the current escalation unfolding in the region, underscoring Egypt's unwavering position to settle the crises through peaceful means and protecting the peoples of the region from further tension and instability to safeguard their gains and future, the Egyptian Presidency reported in a statement.

El-Sisi further emphasized Egypt's support for the nations' sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He expressed Egypt's full solidarity with sisterly Arab nations, along with its absolute rejection of any assaults on these nations.

He cautioned against the detrimental political implications of the persistent escalation on the regional and global stages, noting the extensive communications Egypt is holding with various parties to contain tension and escalation.

For his part, Christodoulides underlined his country's commitment to pursuing close consultation with Egypt and sharing perspectives on the regional developments, as well as avenues for de-escalating the tension.

Pertaining to the situation in the Gaza Strip, both presidents stressed the criticality of upholding the commitment to the war cessation accord in the Gaza enclave and executing the second phase of this deal, including the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid and scrambling to initiate the early recovery and reconstruction process.
