German Chancellor Warns of Consequences of Continued Escalation in the Middle East
Berlin, March 06 (QNA) – German Chancellor Friedrich Merz warned that a prolonged war in Iran could have uncontrollable consequences for the Middle East and beyond, including Europe.
"It would not be in our interest for this war to continue for a long time," Merz said in a press statement on Friday.
"The same applies to the possibility of the collapse of the Iranian state or the outbreak of proxy conflicts on its territories."
The German Chancellor added that such scenarios could have far-reaching consequences for Europe, including security, energy supplies, and migration.
Merz stressed that the security and existence of all countries must be guaranteed, emphasizing the need for dialogue and confidence-building in the region after the fighting ends. (QNA)
