Cairo, March 05 (QNA) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelaaty and his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, stressed in a phone call Thursday the paramount importance of de-escalation and prioritizing diplomacy and political solutions.

They warned of the catastrophic consequences of the continued cycle of violence in the region and its devastating impact on regional and international peace and security.

During the call, Abdelaaty expressed his country's complete rejection and condemnation of any attempts to target Turkiye or infringe upon its sovereignty.

He stressed the importance of respecting the principles of international law and the UN Charter, and the imperative for all parties to exercise restraint to prevent the region from descending into widespread chaos.

He also affirmed the great importance his country attaches to the security of strategic maritime straits, considering them vital arteries for global trade and energy supplies.

He warned that any attempts to disrupt navigation would result in widespread disruptions in global markets and serious repercussions for the international economy. (QNA)
