Moscow, March 04 (QNA) - Russia has expressed concern over the escalating situation in the Middle East, as tensions continue to rise across the region.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday that Moscow was "monitoring the escalation in the Middle East with concern". She added that Russia stands ready to play a mediating role amid what she described as an unprecedented surge in regional tensions.

Moscow has previously positioned itself as a diplomatic interlocutor in regional crises, maintaining ties with multiple actors across the Middle East.

The latest remarks come as international calls grow for de-escalation and a return to dialogue to prevent a wider conflict. (QNA)
