Kuwait, March 31 (QNA) - Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) announced that the crew of the Kuwaiti crude oil tanker Al-Salmi successfully extinguished a fire that broke out early Tuesday following an Iranian attack that directly targeted the vessel while it was anchored off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, outside the port of Dubai. No oil spill or marine pollution was reported in the surrounding waters.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), KPC said the crew responded immediately and brought the fire under control before fully extinguishing it later in the day, in line with instructions from the corporation's management and crisis response team, and in coordination with UAE authorities to assess the damage.
The statement added that no injuries were reported among the 24 crew members.
KPC affirmed that it continues to coordinate with the relevant authorities to assess the extent of the damage and take the necessary measures in accordance with established procedures. (QNA)
