Doha, March 30 (QNA) - The Shura Council held its regular weekly session on Monday in Tamim bin Hamad Hall at the Council's headquarters, chaired by HE Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim.
At the outset of the session, the Council extended its deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of the martyrs from the Qatari Armed Forces, the joint Qatari-Turkish forces, and the Turkish civilian collaborators who lost their lives in the crash of a Qatari Armed Forces helicopter in the country's territorial waters while performing their national duty.
In a related matter, the Council reiterated its categorical rejection of the Iranian attacks targeting the State of Qatar and several brotherly countries, calling for their immediate cessation in accordance with international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and the principles of good neighborliness.
In this regard, the Council praised the measures taken by the country to safeguard its security and uphold its right to take whatever actions it deems necessary to protect its sovereignty and the safety of its citizens and residents, while continuing its diplomatic efforts, in coordination with its regional and international partners, to contain the escalation and maintain regional stability.
Thereafter, HE Secretary-General of the Shura Council Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud read out the agenda, with the council endorsing the minutes of the previous meeting.
As part of the session's agenda, the Council reviewed a draft law amending certain provisions of Law No. 4 of 2008 regarding Property Leasing, submitted by the esteemed government. The Council decided to refer the draft to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee for study and to submit a report back to the Council.
The Council also approved, during the session, a draft law amending certain provisions of Labor Law No. 14 of 2004, in its revised form, and referred it to the esteemed government. This came after reviewing the report of the Social Affairs, Labour and Housing Committee and discussing the provisions of the draft law with the Council's esteemed members.
The Shura Council was also briefed on the results of the follow-up to its recommendations regarding its submitted proposal concerning agricultural support mechanisms provided to local farms and their contribution to enhancing food security.
In this context, the Council praised the government's cooperation and its demonstrated commitment through high levels of coordination and integration between the legislative and executive branches. The Council affirmed that these efforts contribute to strengthening food security and supporting the sustainability of local production to serve national objectives.
On the other hand, the Council reviewed reports of its participation in a number of parliamentary events, namely the participation of its delegation in the meeting of the Standing Committee on Budget and Planning of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) held in Doha in December 2025, the participation of HE Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti in the Inter-Parliamentary Union Consultative Session held virtually in January, as well as the participation of HE Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al Maliki, a member of the Council, in the parliamentary briefing session on the governance of artificial intelligence held virtually within the same month.
