Shura Council Speaker Meets African Ambassadors Group, Underlines Qatar's Firm Rejection of Iranian Attacks
Doha, March 29 (QNA) - HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim has confirmed the State of Qatar's enduring position rejecting the Iranian attacks that compromise its security and sovereignty, as well as those of regional nations.
He stressed that the international community and its institutions should play a more effective role in safeguarding global peace and security.
His remarks came during his meeting with HE Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea (Conakry) to Qatar and Chairman of the Group of African Ambassadors accredited to Doha, Thierno Abdoulaye Sow.
The meeting was attended by several ambassadors of African nations, members of the group, and heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the State of Qatar, as part of strengthening communication and advancing parliamentary dialogue channels.
HE Al Ghanim affirmed that he looks forward to an influential role for parliamentary diplomacy in ending wars and attacks, as well as reinforcing dialogue paths.
He noted the bilateral cooperation between the Shura Council and various national parliaments, alongside international parliamentary organizations, through multiple initiatives aimed at bolstering the role of these institutions in promoting peace and stability.
In addition, Al Ghanim underscored the Council's commitment to broadening cooperation with its counterparts in African nations, thereby fostering partnerships among peoples and supporting coordination and integration on issues of shared concern.
For their part, ambassadors of African countries underlined that their nations stand in solidarity with the State of Qatar in these circumstances. They confirmed that African nations condemn the attacks targeting the State of Qatar and regional countries.
They further applauded the prominent role the State of Qatar undertakes in strengthening dialogue and peace, praising its initiatives in cementing partnerships among peoples, along with the policies it pursues in mediation and in resolving conflicts through peaceful means.
Overall, the ambassadors emphasized their commitment to enhancing ties between their legislative councils and the Shura Council, in addition to drawing on Qatari parliamentary experience to help advance legislative work and share expertise.
At the outset of the meeting, HE Al Ghanim welcomed Their Excellencies the ambassadors and hailed the evolving special relationship between the State of Qatar and African countries, as well as cooperation across a variety of domains. (QNA)
