MoEHE Announces Early Registration Timeline for Public Schools for Academic Year 2026-27
Doha, March 29 (QNA) - The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has announced the opening of early registration for students in public schools for the academic year 2026-27, effective April 12, 2026.
The Ministry called on parents to complete the registration procedures in accordance with the set timelines.
Speaking at a press conference, Head of the Admissions and Registration Department at MoEHE, Warda Mohamed Al Aqeel, said the early registration would kick off from April 12 until Aug. 13, 2026. She assured that a regulated time schedule has been prepared to observe categories and nationalities, as well as the educational phases, to ensure procedures run smoothly.
The first phase regarding the automatic student promotion between grade levels (from kindergarten to 6th grade, from 7th to 9th grade, and from 9th to 10th grade) has been accomplished, Al Aqeel highlighted, confirming that the next phase will mark the start of online enrollment.
Regarding the registration categories, she indicated that the priority in the first phase will be for siblings among Qatari nationals, children of Qatari women, and children of GCC citizens, scheduled from April 12 to Aug. 13, 2026, while for resident students (sibling category), registration will begin from May 17 to Aug. 13.
Al Aqeel further elaborated that registration of non‑sibling students who are Qatari nationals, children of Qatari women, and children of GCC citizens will begin from April 26 to Aug. 13, and for resident students from May 24 to Aug. 13, while online enrollment for the new academic year for all nationalities will be open from Aug. 25 to Oct. 1.
Al Aqeel unveiled a plan to open seven new schools next year, including three specialty and technical schools, to enhance enrollment capacity and raise the quality of educational services.
For her part, Acting Director of the Special Education and Inclusive Education Department, Amna Ali Al Mulla, emphasized that students with disabilities are enrolled based on procedures that ensure having the appropriate educational environment in place.
Those students shall be subject to an overall medical examination in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) to identify the most suitable educational path, whether at inclusive schools, whose number reaches 80, or at early intervention preschools, as well as early childhood intervention centers, Al Mulla stressed.
Assistant Director of the Department of School and Student Affairs, Fatima Yousef Al Obaidly, clarified that online registration is now available at evening education centers and adult education (homeschooling or parallel track) for students enrolled for the academic year 2025-26.
This, she added, is done through nine centers distributed across various regions nationwide, with the number of registrants heretofore reaching almost 500 students of both genders who have registered via the Maarif Portal for Public Services.
Al Obaidly noted that the portal continues to receive registration applications in support of continuing education.
She finished by confirming that the move is part of the Ministry's commitment to ensuring constant education for this category, enabling them to accomplish their educational pathway and upgrade their skills to help boost their future opportunities and support their effective engagement in society, stemming from the ethos of education as a right for all and lifelong learning.
