Doha, March 26 (QNA) - The Qatar Basketball Federation has unveiled the new version of the Basketball League shield for the 2025-2026 season, along with the gold, silver, and bronze medals.
The new shield was part of a comprehensive development plan aimed at enhancing the visual identity of the league and raising its competitive value, keeping pace with the development of Qatari basketball on both the technical and organizational levels.
This announcement was made during a press conference held Thursday at the QBF headquarters, attended by Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari, Secretary General of the Federation and Director of National Teams, Ahmed Yousef Al Darwish, Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Competitions Committee, and representatives of the nine participating clubs: Al Rayyan, Al Arabi, Al Sadd, Al Ahli, Al Shamal, Al Wakrah, Al Gharafa, Qatar SC, and Al Khor.
On this occasion, Secretary General of the QBF and Director of National Teams Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari confirmed that the unveiling of the new shield is part of a comprehensive development strategy for local championships.
The launch of a new championship shield reflects our commitment to enhancing the league's prestige and fostering a spirit of competition among clubs, in addition to supporting the development of players for the national teams."
For his part, Assistant Secretary General of the Qatar Basketball Federation and Head of the Competitions Committee Ahmed Yousef Al Darwish affirmed that the adoption of the new shield design included conducting a study aimed at showcasing the championship's identity in a modern way.
This edition marked the 45th edition of the championship, which began in the 1981-1982 season. The inaugural edition saw Al Arabi Club crowned champions, marking the beginning of a long history of competition among Qatar's top basketball teams. (QNA)
