Geneva, March 22 (QNA) - Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, announced that more than 60 people were killed in an attack targeting a hospital in southwestern Sudan.
In a post on the X platform, Ghebreyesus said that Al-Daein Hospital, in the capital of East Darfur state, was attacked, leaving at least 64 people dead, including 13 children, and 89 others injured, forcing the hospital to suspend its medical services.
The WHO chief stressed that the total number of victims of attacks on healthcare facilities during the conflict in Sudan has exceeded 2,000.
For its part, the United Nations, through its Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Sudan, expressed deep dismay over the attack on the hospital in East Darfur. (QNA)
