Brussels, March 19 (QNA) - French President Emmanuel Macron today denounced the "reckless escalation" in the Middle East, as the conflict spread to include the region's energy infrastructure, calling for a ceasefire during Eid Al-Fitr.

In remarks before attending a European summit in Brussels, Macron also called for "direct" talks between the United States and Iran to de-escalate the "reckless" situation in the Middle East.

He noted that several Gulf states have, for the first time, been targeted by attacks on their production capacities, just as happened with Iran, expressing his hope for "direct" talks between the Americans and Iranians on this issue. (QNA)
